The Cook County Assessor’s Office will have representatives at the Ward office at 2657 N Clybourn on Monday August 13, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. They will be here to provide one-on-one assistance to residents of the 32nd Ward on a first come, first served basis in filing appeals of their tax assessments. All residents of the 32nd Ward are welcome to attend, even if their township is not currently open for appeals. Submitting an appeal does not necessarily mean that your assessed valuation will be lowered. However, many people do receive reductions in their assessed valuation when they submit an appeal.

Cook County Assessor’s Office staff will also be checking to make certain people have all applicable exemptions. Please note that some senior citizens received bills that erroneously substituted the senior freeze exemption for the long-time occupant exemption. This error resulted in significant increases in some constituents’ property tax bills. If you are a senior and your homeowners exemption declined significantly relative to prior bills you should contact our office, the Cook County Assessor’s Office, or attend this help session.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact the office at 773-248-1330. Also, please inform any friends or neighbors who may need assistance with filing appeals or applying for exemptions.
