A man and woman have been charged in the violent assault of two women in Bucktown last Friday. Natasha McShane and Stacy Jurich were severely injured in the attack and Natasha will be in the hospital for quite some time.

These young women still need our support. The McShane Family is in need of assistance to help pay for medical bills, the cost of the emergency flights from Ireland, and other bills related to the incident. Fundraising efforts are being undertaken by the students and faculty at UIC where she is a student. Please go to www.uppsa.org to see how you can help.

Despite this heinous attack, I believe our local police officers have been doing a great job with the resources they have. It took intelligent and determined police work, with cooperation from the community to catch these criminals. Chicago Police Officers are dedicated citizens who take their jobs seriously and we appreciate the work they do on our behalf.

For now, let’s all do our part in keeping our neighborhoods safe. Stay informed and attend neighborhood police meetings. Schedules for your beat meeting can be found here. Together we are working with the police officers protecting us, keeping you informed about your neighborhood and finding solutions to make our community better.

Thank you,
Alderman Scott Waguespack
