At the end of last year, I wrote a three-item wish list of things I’d like to see in 2010. My first wish: to see food trucks operating on the streets of Chicago.

Not to get your and my hopes too high, but we’re starting to see a little action to that end.

On Wednesday, the Chicago City Council will hear testimony from Phillip Foss, executive chef and food truck advocate, and Matt Maroni, a chef who has crafted a model food truck ordinance (a patchwork of rules culled from various cities’ ordinances). Ald. Scott Waguespack, 32nd, has indicated that he would introduce the ordinance, supported by Aldermen Vi Daley, 43rd, Brendan Reilly, 42nd, and Tom Tunney, 44th, perhaps as soon as that meeting.
