The 2020 e-scooter pilot concluded Saturday, December 12. The Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection is now entering the evaluation phase and plan to release a summary report in early 2021. This will include a rider survey, vendor survey, trip data analysis, injury analysis, and interviews with city staff and community stakeholders. Additionally, CDOT has launched a public survey, and all Chicago residents are encouraged to share their feedback on e-scooters by clicking here. Our office has taken in complaints about the scooters and will be compiling these for submission in the reporting period. Problems observed include riders on sidewalks, locking of bikes on hydrants, private or public fences (homes and schools), and blocking ADA ramps.
If you've been enjoying that scooter life or think improvements to rules and management of the system need to be made, please fill out the survey by January 7th.
